Here we are! The last week of me sharing the top questions I get from my clients. I do hope you enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!

If you’ve been following along, last week we talked about shampooing versus no-poo. That article really elicited a lot of conversation around the dinner table. My lovely husband told me he didn’t wash his hair for a year when he was a younger man. He’s lucky I wasn’t his stylist back then!

Let’s end this series with the most fundamental question I get asked. That is how often to come in for a trim.

Basically, the interval depends on the kind of style you have and how quickly you feel it loses its shape. I have clients who have short hair and need a cut every four weeks to keep the style in shape. For my long hair clients, they come in more like six to eight weeks simply because those styles have a more flowing look that allows for less frequent haircuts. The other factor is how you intensively style your hair. The reasoning here is that if you’re doing a lot of hot-tool styling you will probably need to come in sooner because there is a cost to using heat tools. The heat dries out your hair which causes breakage and split ends!

Ultimately, it’s up to you and how fresh you want your cut to look. I’m happy to work with you to help you meet your goals be they coming in every other week or only a few times a year.

Until next time, be well.
