Buckle-up, the holiday season is here!
I was raised in a fairly traditional home where our Christmas tree was put up twelve days before Christmas and taken down no later than twelve days after Christmas. Definitely old-school! It has really been surprising for me when I see decorations and signs of the holiday appearing sooner and sooner every year. When does the season really start?
In fact, in late September I was walking through Costco and I saw some Christmas trees poking up from behind a wall of athletic socks and comforters. Too early! A couple of weeks ago (mid-October) I was walking through the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall and I heard a smooth-jazz version of Greensleeves. Still, a little too early. I prefer this version anyway.
Incidentally, no one ever woke up and said, “I want to be a smooth-jazz musician“. But, as usual, I digress!
Countdown to Christmas!
The desperation of shopping
In spite of my nose wrinkling at how early the season seems to be starting every year, I understand why it is so. Retail merchants feel they need to get your attention as early as possible. There is just too much to do in a short period of time. If you don’t believe me, just watch the little countdown timer for 15 seconds and tell me it doesn’t send a shiver down your spine! The amount of time to get everything done before Christmas is definitely more compressed every year.
You’ve got to add all those social activities like office holiday parties, family get togethers, school events, and other end-of-the-year activities to your schedule. Additionally, you’re probably going to have to shop for gifts for all of these events. It just gets overwhelming.
In the past I’ve worked as a stylist in the malls. I watch the people’s level of stress, anxiety, and frustration increase as the season gets into full swing. The poor shopper’s desperation starts with the parking lot, then there is the mass of people in the mall — pushing and shoving, and then coming to the realization that the item you’ve been looking for is out of stock.
Online ordering is great, but the chance of overpaying, not being able to physically inspect the item you want to purchase, or impossible return policies make for a less than desirable option.
I’m here to help you survive the season!
Let me give you an alternative. That is — a gift that will always fit, is a great value, and will show that you really care about the recipient. It’s one of my Happy Hairpin Gift Certificates. You can get them in any denomination and they won’t expire for one year from the purchase date.
Just think, you can give your Mom that makeover, provide your daughter with a new style for that upcoming interview, or even provide it as a gift for an especially deserving employee.
The best part is, I make it super easy for you to purchase them. You can come in to the shop, call me to purchase, or even buy them here on the website. After purchasing, you will need to either pick up the gift certificate at the shop or make arrangements with me to get it to you by other means.
As always, I want to make your experience as pleasant as possible and I am certain that these gift certificates will help reduce your seasonal stress. Seasons Greetings! Click the Gift Certificate below to get started.
